Preparation for an EEG of the brain

EEG of the brain is a diagnostic examination of neurological functions by reading electrical impulses (signals) on the headpatient. This technique is quite popular in neurology because of its informativeness. The EEG method involves the use of a special device – electroencephalograph. Of course, the entire procedure and its necessity are determined by theneurologistduring a personal appointment with the patient.

Indications for brain examination:

• regular sleep problems or vice versa – abnormal drowsiness;
• frequent headaches of unknown origin;
• symptomsdizziness, frequent loss of consciousness;

An additional criterion for checking the functional state of the brain is recent injuries or acute conditions (ischemia, strokes).

Electroencephalography has no obvious contraindications, it is used for children, adults, and pregnant women. The only cases where EEG cannot be performed are fresh head injuries with wounds, severe heart disease.
